Bonfire Night is celebrated all over the UK. Every year on 5th November, the anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot, Guy Fawkes is remembered. Many people light bonfires and set off fireworks to celebrate the fact the Parliament and James I were not blown sky high by Guy Fawkes.
Four hundred years ago, in 1605, a man called Guy Fawkes and a group of plotters attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London with barrels of gunpowder placed in the basement. They wanted to kill King James and the king's leaders.
