Shortly after 4.30pm on Thursday November 5 people around Reading and Wokingham noticed the sepia and rose-coloured sky above.
According to the Met Office, the colour change was caused by high pressure in the atmosphere which trapped dust and small particles and scattered the blue light, leaving only the red light. As the sun set in the west the red light then refracted through the thinning clouds around Reading leaving the town with a pink sky.
Emma Sharples, a spokeswoman from the Met Office, said: "It is because the rain has just cleared and the sun is setting in the west.
"Where the cloud is thinner, it is letting a bit of sunlight through. It (the colour change) is just where the sunlight is refracting through the cloud."
The Met Office also states that a red sky at sunset means the high pressure is moving in from the west, so the next day will usually be dry.
